SuperAwesome, the platform for developers to build kid-friendly digital experiences, has been acquired by North Carolina-based Epic Games. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. “The internet was never designed for kids so we started SuperAwesome to make it as easy as possible to enable safe, privacy-driven digital experiences for children everywhere. Partnering with Epic Games gives us the opportunity to deliver that promise on a scale which simply wouldn’t have been possible on our own. Founded by Collins, Joshua Wohle, and Tom Impallomeni in 2013, SuperAwesome had raised a total of $58M in funding over five rounds with the last round coming in January of this year. Investors in the company include Future Fifty, M12, Harbert European Growth Capital, Hoxton Ventures, Isomer Capital, Arya Bolurfrushan, YYX Capital, Blue Wire Capital, Mayfair Equity Partners, Sandbox & Co, Kevin Brown, Twenty Ten Capital, STE Capital, IBIS TMT, Jamie Kirkwood, and Henry Chamberlain.
